Brett gave me a challenge. To explore and write about my connection with running. 30 minutes everyday I will attempt to write a my notes. Usually i’m not much of a runner, so these notes will be a huge challenge for me. I’m a little nervous about sharing this with everyone but I hope to become a better writer and understand the world of running more.
I do not enjoy running but I do run occasionally. I try to run as much as I can but for the life of me I just hate running. Why do I hate running? Maybe because my pain tolerance is very low and sometimes running hurts. Hong Kong summer weather is not for running. It’s humid and hot, it’s hard to breathe in that kind of weather. That’s why kudos to the people who can run in that kind of weather. I do not like sweating so as soon as summer started I did not have the motivation to run.
I always wonder why people like to run so much. I still don’t have the answer to that yet, I still don’t get how some people can run 100miles. I mean why would someone put their body in that kind of position. DOn’t get me wrong, to finish a hundred miles is an amazing achievement. They must feel so powerful overcoming that challenge, it gives them the runner’s high. It takes a lot of physical effort and mental battles to finish a 100 miles. I’m always amazed by people who can run for even 2 hours straight. I get motivated and even want to run on that moment to see what running can bring to you.
I do plan to love running, still learning how to enjoy running. My boyfriend loves to run and always pushes me to run with him. He always wants me to give more and better myself, but again I just don’t have that will power to push myself to the limits. One day I will have that motivation and just to push through the pain. I’m starting to prepare myself to run next month, gathering as much motivation as I can and put them to use. I believe that one day I will be able to run a marathon, that’s my goal right now. I believe that setting yourself a goal will give you something to train for and to look forward to. It will give you the motivation to push yourself and to achieve your goals.
It’s never too late to start something new. It’s a new beginning, new journey. I’ll be back to keep you updated on my running journey.
